My unsettling conversation with Looksmaxxing GPT, before OpenAI shut it down

OpenAI hosted a chatbot that rated people's looks, based on a scale literally devised by incels, then told them what surgery they needed to fix their faces.

So I’m not really posting on this substack any more, but I do sometimes write about AI on my blog We Hunted the Mammoth, and today’s post there is a, well, mammoth one about my unsettling discussion with a “Looksmaxxing” chatbot promoting an incel-infected ideology that is hateful towards women and deeply corrosive for the lonely, insecure men that were the chatbot’s intended audience. It was, in effect, an automated body dysmorphic disorder generator.

OpenAI, which hosted this custom GPT, has taken the bot down, but they should never have allowed it to go up in the first place.
